Anushka Shetty is an Indian film actress, working in the Telugu and Tamil film industries.In 2009, Shetty first starred in the film Arundati. The film, a heroine-centric film, in which she essayed two roles for the first time, was a critical as well as commerical success. Her performance, as Jejamma in particular, was highly critically acclaimed and fetched her her first Nandi Award. Her next film, the action flick Billa, a remake of the 2007 Tamil namesake, itself a remake of the 1978 Hindi film Don, featured Shetty in an entirely contrary role to her role in Arundati. Her final release in 2009 was her second Tamil feature film, Vettaikkaran, in which she was paired with lead actor Vijay and which she was also successful. She is currently acting in another Tamil film Singam, whilst in Telugu her upcoming released include Vedam, Panchakshari and Kaleja, all scheduled to release in 2010.
